FIX CTCI or IB API?

I'm currently using IB Gateway for the connection to PTL Trader, and I always choose "IB API" option to log in to IB Gateway. There is no problem.
Am I correct?

I'm wondering if another option, "FIX CTCI," is more suitable for PTL Trader.
